Melita Mariana
A 60km pilgrimage
Journey over land and sea in Malta and Gozo from the Southeast Punic harbour of Marsaxlokk (starting at tas-Silg) to the Northwest village of Gharb (ending at Santwarju ta’ Pinu). XirCammini thanks the Malta Tourism Authority for assisting it to develop this and other pilgrimages in the Maltese islands.

2025: A year of Jubilee
His Holiness the Pope declared 2025 a year of Jubilee (from 24th December 2024 to 6th January 2026). Jubilee years happen every 25 years. The theme of the 2025 Jubilee year is “Pilgrims of Hope”.
Malta’s pilgrimage for the Jubilee Year
The Archdiocese of Malta has designated this pilgrimage, dedicated to Marian devotions in Malta throughout the ages, as the Jubilee Year pilgrimage and is encouraging pilgrims to walk it. This is one of the pilgrimages developed by XirCammini in the Maltese islands in collaboration with the Malta Tourism Authority, Heritage Malta and XirCammini member-volunteers.
While Melita Mariana can be walked self-guided, group pilgrimages will also be organised on the following days:

Walk
The Walk
The route commences in Marsaxlokk (Tas-Silg Sanctuary or Pompei Parish church) and continues, over 2 days, through Rabat and Mdina to the Sanctuary of Our Lady in Mellieha. On the 3rd day pilgrims walk from Ghansielem (Our Lady of Loreto and Our Lady of Lourdes, through Qala (Immaculate Conception), the Citadel (Santa Maria) towards Ta Pinu Sanctuary in the limits of Gharb.
